Our hard court is exclusively for tennis players. It is only accessible by members (for a very reasonable annual fee) and is booked through an online system. It is accessed by the padlocked gate, for which there is a code.
The court is kept in a very good condition (bearing in mind we have had some damp winters!) and membership fees go directly to maintaining the surfaces and nets. Fundraising events are held yearly to add to the coffers and keep the facility up to scratch.
While we do not currently participate in any league tennis, there is a very competitive group of members for whom we have a Box League, an annual knockout tournament and arrange friendly matches against other clubs. All members are welcome to join, with or without doubles partners.
All players are very welcome to arrange social games themselves, and we also have a group of keen tennis players, for whom there is a what's app group and regular sessions on Thursday evenings (in summer) and Sunday mornings, weather permitting. We are a friendly bunch - ad hoc games are often arranged during the week, with socials often happening even without a tennis ball being involved! Everyone is welcome to join us.
We find that there is generally enough availability on the courts to accommodate individuals and groups during the week, so the social groups are don’t overwhelm the courts.
